CATHERINE MCDONALD

CITY MATTERS - WORKSHOP

SATURDAY JULY 30TH 1-3 PM

Learn to connect to place through clay at the City Matters workshop, led by visual artist Catherine
McDonald. This one-day workshop offers an alternative way of experiencing Dublin City through
activities based on touch and texture. Participants will use blindfolds while making clay objects, and will
learn the principles of clay moulding without the pressure of creating a figurative piece.
Catherine will guide the class through the blindfolded clay-making process in a creative and relaxed
atmosphere. Blindfolds and clay will be provided for each participant. Open to everyone- no previous
knowledge or experience with art practice is required.

Catherine McDonald is a visual artist currently based in county Clare. She merges sculpture, film and
sound to create multi-layered installations. Collaborating with the rhythms of natural materials,
Catherine creates spaces which combine the real and the imagined. Through this practice she seeks to
reframe constructed perceptions of the more-than-human world.

Catherine completed her BFA at TU Dublin. Her graduate work was chosen for exhibition at the 2021
Visual Art Awards at the RHA and received the 2021 Image Now Purchase Award. She is presently
undertaking an MFA in Art and Ecology at the Burren College of Art. Her ongoing installation series, Past,
Present, Future is currently on exhibition at the LAB gallery in Dublin.
